The Metal Observor: This one-man project has intentions lined with razor-sharp, Bathory-fueled barbarity that harkens to its chief influence only vaguely, choosing instead to develop itself into something much more even-tempered and contemporary than the mercurial and rarely self-satisfied Swedes ever were. - 8/10

Crossfire-Metal: This album offers everything the traditional Black Metal heart desires: gruffy riffs, high tempo and double bass, genre-typical screaming vocals, little to no bass, and a cold, thin production that goes well with its compatriots of Inquisition, Abazagorath, cult OvAzazel , Judas Iscariot or war can be compared. - 8/10

OccultBlackMetalZine: In my opinion Bathyum are a very great sounding raw, old school style black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. - 8/10

The Killchain: ‘Rituals of the Damned’ is a quality record that you would be mistaken to miss out on. A varied take on traditional black metal, with excellent songwriting and strong individual songs, as well as an overall quality. Definitely recommended as a new hidden gem in British black metal.
